Job Title:

What is aromatherapy?:

Aromatherapy is the use of precious essential oils carefully extracted from plants for their therapeutic properties. This is the purest essence of a plant. Essential oils contain natural chemical constituents that have many different values to our health. Highly concentrated as these are, it is important they are mixed to the proper proportions. For massage essential oils are blended with organic nut and seed oils chosen especially to nurture your skin. Aromatherapy has a holistic approach where all aspects of your wellbeing are considered. The overall experience can help you to reach a state of homeostasis or your best natural equilibrium at that time. Aromatherapy is considered to be both a science and an art.

What happens in a treatment?:

During a first session a 30 minute, detailed heath consultation is taken, to get a good understanding of you and your general health. This is necessary to determine treatment and to ensure safe and beneficial oils are used. In subsequent treatments a consultation takes approximately 10 minutes. Health suggestions, referrals or advice maybe given where appropriate.

Most people then have a massage with the blended oils [the best way to experience the benefits of aromatherapy!] Leaving underwear on you get onto a purpose built couch where, towels and blankets ensure your modesty and comfort throughout your entire massage.

An aromatherapy massage is deeply relaxing and can be an excellent way to help relieve stress. Effleurage are large fluid movements that work the oils though your dermis and eventually into the bloodstream. Through your skin [the largest organ] is a fantastic, safe and effective way to absorb the oils. During the massage you may also receive some lymph drainage which helps the body to release toxins and can also stimulate the immune system. Petrissage involves kneading the body, the effects can release muscular tension and improve your circulation often leaving you feeling invigorated and supple. Acupressure may be used where your body requires more release in a particular area.

Creams, oils and balms can be made to order to support your health and wellbeing.
