Feldenkrais - Functional Integration
A Functional Integration individual lesson is a hands on approach of the Feldenkrais method. Through gentle but specific touch they aim to bring awareness to how we move and show new possibilities of organising ourselves. These new possibilities are helpful in distributing effort more evenly in the body so when we do something, it feels easier and more comfortable. Unnecessary tension and stress is reduced by having the awareness of them and by having an experience of support of the skeleton. The method is non corrective and non invasive. But rather a curious exploration, looking to improve function and not to fix. These lessons can be helpful for people with musculoskeletal problems, tensions, pains, aches, stiffness, limited movement or hyper mobility. Or people who would like to improve their skills at sports, dance, music, drama. Feldenkrais may be helpful for people with movement disorders and is appropriate for a wide range of people of all ages and abilities.

Hydrotherm Massage
A massage on the Hydrotherm system is a unique experience! It is a form of heat floatation massage that enables you to receive a 3-dimensional massage whilst lying face-up throughout your treatment - no need to turn around, no face hole, no dangling arms! You lie with your back and legs resting on warm water filled cushions, which have been placed on top of a traditional massage table. A bolster behind your knees ensures good spinal alignment and no strain on the lower back. The massage therapist slides their hands and arms between you and the cushions to treat the back of your body - allowing for the unique 3-dimensional and flowing feeling of the massage. The warmth of the cushions deepens the relaxation and prepares the muscles, making the body more receptive and the treatment more effective without the need for excessive pressure. A Hydrotherm treatment always also includes some passive stretching and/or movement. Hydrotherm massage particularly encourages opening, lengthening and fluidity of movement. Anybody can benefit from Hydrotherm massage. It is also particularly suitable during all stages of pregnancy - the cushions are kept at a slightly lower temperature and the back of the couch is raised to an appropriate angle for the stage of pregnancy, to ensure the treatment is comfortable and safe for both the mother and her growing baby.

Raindrop Technique
What is Raindrop Technique? A powerful yet gentle technique developed by Dr Gary Young in the 1980's that was originally created and used by the Lakota Native American tribe. It involves applying therapeutic grade essential oils to the spine, neck and feet using a combination of 3 modalities ending with hot towel compress applied to the back: - Aromatherapy - Vita-Flex (a form of Reflexology) - Feather Stroking (Native American form of Effleurage) - This potent combination works synergistically to support all body systems and stimulate optimal functioning of the nervous system. Vita-Flex - was brought to the US in the 1920s by Stanley Burroughs. An ancient Tibetan methodology meaning "Vitality through the Reflexes". Its theory is based on the fact that slight pressure applied to the body creates an electric charge that is therapeutic to the body.

Remedial Massage
Is a massage treatment that includes movement and focuses on relieving specific pain, discomfort, tension of the soft tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia). These symptoms can be a result of mechanical, emotional and psychological stresses that the body carries, builds up and stores in the soft tissue. Techniques are used to separate adhesions, soften and melt away the built up, hard fibrous layers of connective or scar tissue which forms to protect and support areas of stress. This kind of treatment will help to create the conditions for the body’s return to normal health after injury, regain its pain free movement with ease and allow its realignment. It is directed by the initial assessment of the client, modified to suit the needs of the individual, and adapted in the light of each individual’s response. The soft tissue of the body responds to touch, which is why a massage often inspires an intense and powerful experience. It is incredibly useful as a preventative treatment or simply as a general release of tension/stress.

Transformational Energy Healing
Transformational Energy Healing is a blend of diverse and potent Healing Arts that work directly with the human body and energy system to clear and transform energetic blockages, issues and conditioning at their roots, ripening the Self towards the freedom of awakening. This work helps to facilitate personal growth and transformation. It works on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and energetic. The approach in this work is two-fold. Firstly, it invites us deeper into our inner landscape, so as to empower us to find and move through our personal obstacles. And secondly, it provides the energetic support needed to facilitate, deepen and accelerate this process. This is made possible by the innate intelligence and quality of the healing energy within this system of healing. It is able to work with the human body and energy system at great depth and with incredible accuracy. In other words, it goes exactly where it needs to go to release what needs to be released. This deep level of facilitation means that much of what would normally stand in the way of our process of healing can be readily transformed. It helps by clearing the path for us, so we can step into our truth, into our power, with a deeper ease and grace. Freeing ourselves from our old patterning helps to create a deeper level of space and clarity in our lives. With this deeper level of inner freedom, we have the opportunity to take a fresh course, and to now move from a place that is more closely aligned with the truth and beauty of our being. Living in this way can start to open up our lives in truly wondrous and magical ways. It allows our own natural intelligence to take over, so much so that life can begin to truly flower.

Dovetree Veterinary Care
Dovetree Veterinary Care provides a referral clinical veterinary acupuncture and dedicated pain and wound management service in Totnes and the surrounding area. Most animals tolerate acupuncture very well, and even relax once the needles are placed. Dr Shona Fernyhough BVM&S MRCVS MSc graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh in 2001. She worked in general mixed practice for 6 years during which time she developed a particular interest in pain management and wound healing in large and small animals. This led her to undertake postgraduate training in veterinary acupuncture with the ABVA (Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists) in 2006. In 2007 Shona left general practice to specialise in a multi-modal approach to pain and wound management, using acupuncture plus specific exercise, diet and lifestyle changes, on a referral basis. Common conditions cared for by Shona include osteoarthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia, select spinal conditions, muscular strains, postoperative orthopaedic recovery, behavioural issues linked to pain, myofascial pain, palliative care cases, lick granulomas and non-healing wounds. In the UK acupuncture on animals may only be performed by an appropriately trained veterinary surgeon. Shona also often works with ACPAT(A) certified animal physiotherapists as part of her comprehensive approach to pain and wound management, in order to achieve a maximal treatment benefit for her patients. Since acupuncture may only be performed by a veterinary surgeon, treatment is covered by many pet insurance policies. Please check your policy to determine your individual circumstance. Shona is happy to process retrospective insurance claims on your behalf.
Pat Mansell
Hypnotherapy
My background includes working as a teacher/lecturer, social worker and behaviourist. I have taught Reiki for many years and use it daily. Hypnotherapy training included several NLP techniques which I updated in 2016, whist becoming a time-line practitioner. All the processes I use are effective as they by-pass the rational, limited mind and work with the unconscious. The unconscious mind is the powerhouse that runs the body. It stores memories, habits and emotions, controls and maintains all perceptions. Tapping into this, working with it enables extraordinary, positive changes to take place I have extensive experience in helping people change limiting beliefs and behaviours, become more confident, live life more fully and joyfully.
